A theatrical impresario, Charles Pentwick (Hugh Wakefield), takes off for his country estate to get some much-needed peace after his wife (Helen Shingler) accuses him of having an affair with a young actress. But any attempt at solace is ruined when Pentwick's theater troupe shows up, with their girlfriends and wives tagging along. Then, Mrs. Pentwick arrives -- so the actors decide to play various roles to confuse her as to what is really going on.
