Ben Turner The Pink Lens This film captures the essence of ambivalence that something is only an issue if someone cares about it. Rated: 4/5 Sep 2, 2021 Full Review Cathy Brennan One Room With A View Carmin Tropical is a tender look at the friendship between two trans women. Although a tad slight, the internal complexities of Mabel's character make it a thoroughly rewarding watch. Rated: 4/5 Apr 6, 2019 Full Review Luis Reséndiz Letras Libres An elegant way to give new life to a genre that already has more than eighty years of existence. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 27, 2016 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film Neither the mystery of Mabel's past nor the mystery she faces in her present fully satisfy - the former is too opaque and the latter telegraphed early. Rated: 3/5 Aug 7, 2016 Full Review Fernando Moreno Ibero 90.9 An impactful film due to the intelligent and daring script and the spectacular characters created by Jos Pescina and Luis Alberti. [Full review in Spanish] May 6, 2016 Full Review Hugo Lara Correcámara An intelligent film that puts themes like homophobia, corrpution, and intolerance on the rable. The film has many layers to discover. [Full review in Spanish] May 5, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member Intended to narrate the journey of discovery of a transgender guy, who's in search of answers about the crime and death of her also transgender friend. The film does not explore the gaped relationship between this two characters well and it is unknown to us the audience why is "she" so interesting in such mystery solving task. The film is set in a beautiful southern Mexican village known for its acceptance for homosexuals and transgendered, called here: Muxes. The film fails to document this journey either as a straight forward drama or as a Film Noir (as they later poorly intended to label the piece for commercial reasons). The story telling feels weak! or mostly constructed on an editing table rather than on character-acting/cinematography/script base. I am not sure why or how they funded this "director" and why they are presenting this film as a "treasure" Mexican cinema as it does little justice to what Mexican cinema has been and is. I would NOT recommend this film at all!. I requested my money back at the Mexican movie theater. AVOID IT! if you can. Los Últimos Minutos son Geniales Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review brent m A Mexican murder mystery that effectively captures a variety of moods from that of an atmospheric noir-esque tale to a kitschy gay comedy to an offbeat, unlikely romance, all rolled into one. Despite a slight tendency to drag (no pun intended) in the last half hour, this multifaceted movie is like curling up with a good book, one that features one of the most effective closing sequences I've ever seen in a film. A delightful, emotive surprise. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
