Norman Gidney Film Threat Cartel 2045 never fully succeeds in what it is trying to do yet is still mildly entertaining, aiming for campy grindhouse absurdity without the wit or brevity. Rated: 3/4 May 17, 2018 Full Review Jeffrey Lyles Lyles' Movie Files This is a lot more money and a better execution of its intriguing premise away from being a very enjoyable B movie. Rated: 1/10 May 1, 2018 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com It doesn't work, but Le has some decent ideas on the perversion on technology and the hellscape of Mexico, making the endeavor more of a near-miss than a wipeout. Rated: C- Apr 26, 2018 Full Review Jonathan Edwards Starburst An uneven affair, Cartel 2045 is a film which will only be enjoyed by those with a perverse love for the B-movie genre. Real A Great film love Danny Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/20/25 Full Review Jared V The film has valid recognition of how people, perhaps in Mexico and the United States alike, behave both in response to each other, and technology. It also does not undermine nor satire the brotherhood or validity of the military, nor does it glorify to a fault it's otherwise almost protagonist cartel members. And an absolute nod to Danny Trejo for his arc in the story, as well as the character arc of A.D.A.M. However, with special effects, this story is still a work in progress: multiple times, the CGI shows itself and is not entirely stable. With detail and blending, yes, and with timing and anatomy, no. The effects with mild violence and artificial intelligence also were less than enrapturing. The story is also somewhat choppy concerning it's plot points, it's use of emotion in some members of cast, and perhaps the sincerity of some performers. There appear to be plot holes and unfulfilled climaxes without much filling in the potholes. So, while the film most certainly is worth the watch for those searching for an underrated, hidden jewel, keep in mind it's a rough ride compared to some other major films about science fiction in action.
