What to Know

Critics Consensus

With help from a strong performance by Leonardo DiCaprio as real-life wunderkind con artist Frank Abagnale, Steven Spielberg crafts a film that's stylish, breezily entertaining, and surprisingly sweet.

A hugely watchable film that disappoints nonetheless. Go to Full Review

This is the director's most likeable film in ages, even if it's insubstantial, overlong and, frankly, a touch redundant. Go to Full Review

Catch Me If You Can is probably one of the best films amongst Spielberg's minor titles, saying more positively about the man's talent than it says anything negatively about the film. Go to Full Review

Tyler P. @TylerPhoenixMD 3d Simply amazing! One of Leo’s best movies in my opinion! See more Syd S @sydney7 5d I love it so much! I've watched many, many movies and this movie is in the top five for sure See more Blu B Dec 4 All Time Classic. DiCaprio is the best thing in this and gives an excellent performance. Everyone else is really good but man he is the most memorable thing. This is his film. First rate cinematography as well. The production value, 60's era, first rate direction by Speilberg is all great here. It does a great job immersing you in the time period and high flying lifestyle. Despite being a somewhat disjointed narrative and fitting a lot in it never really feels bloated and always gives you something to enjoy. The pacing is excellent and verything else is really good. It can feel like at times Frank's life and drama is seperate from the actual check fraud and running from the law but it overall works really well. The fact it's told in technical flashback as well and jumps between Hanks & DiCaprio as well gives it a very unique structure in a sense. The humor is good and really clever also. It's pretty much a dramedy mixed with a crime flick which is a pretty unique idea as well. See more Tyler G Oct 27 The movie ends a couple too many times. There is a lack of the profundity in many Spielberg films. Sometimes is feels like a set of disjointed set pieces rather than a single flowing narrative. The role of women in the sotry is... not great. Still, is is highly watchable and rewatchable. The act is excellent. I liked it despite its flaws. See more Kauã M Oct 18 Fun, Drama, Laughter, Empathy, this movie makes you feel a lot while watching, keeping you engaged throughout the entire journey, it doesn't even feel like it's 2 hours long, the combination of actors here was perfect on every level, in addition to fantastic direction and scriptwriting, what an incredible classic.
