Audience Member The first film both written and directed by Charlie Chaplin; on the whole it isn't a great effort, but Charlie's physical comedy had really started to shine through at this point and the drunk trying to climb the stairs and then undressing for bed was very funny and archetypal of the style of comedy Chaplin would come to master. This was no different. Genius comedy and at his best as always. It's about Chaplin's character and another fighting over the attention of a young girl. Simple yet brilliant. A must see for any Chaplin fan and for everyone that hasn't seen any of his films yet then this is a must. Infact they are all a must.
