In ancient Scotland, the Ninth Legion liberates a Roman officer named Quintus Dias (Michael Fassbender) from his Pict captors. The soldiers are in pursuit of the Pict leader, and Quintus joins their quest. Soon afterward, the Romans' Pict guide betrays them, resulting in the slaughter of all but a handful of men. The Roman survivors try desperately to reach safety, as the indigenous warriors pick them off one by one.

Nothing special to see, it's ok, but on average very cheesy and just goes event after event. The acting is good but the plot fails on many occasions, is Thax just supposed to blow their cover just to be nice to the enemies ? I would rather watch the Eagle again than this. Worth it only if you really want to watch everything related to Rome, and even then the feeling of Roman identity isn't particularly strong, it could have been an other era and it wouldn't have changed the story of feeling.

A great movie for those fans of the genre. I thoroughly enjoyed its run time with a rewarding ending. Realistic gore and effects help carry the movie along as well as realistic scenarios and injuries.
