Arindam C The film bespeaks the struggle of a marginalized family. Tagar is the wife of jobless labourer Manik. They have a son and a daughter who suffers from thalassemia. She toils hard to make the both ends meet. The film is permeated with communist ideas. It excels in the incorporation of Sujato's character. Sujato is a communist who refuses to accept social marginalization. He postulates that prostitution has always been nothing but a means of earning the keep but prostitutes have always been socially debarred. He postulates that social changes do not occur because of the struggle of an individual but it occurs as a consequence of the inefficacy of prevalent system.
