Leo Schneider (Joseph Bologna) introduces his brother, George (James Caan), to a vivacious, recently divorced actress named Jennie MacLaine (Marsha Mason). Although George was mourning his wife's death, he feels the spark of life return after his date with Jennie. They commence a whirlwind relationship, and in the blink of an eye they are suddenly married and on their honeymoon. I actually found myself laughing a lot. I never knew James Caan had such a hilarious dry wit beneath his usually solemn exterior. Thoroughly enjoyed this one, because it felt real. It was like a real relationship taking place in front of you instead of the typical Hollywood love interest bs. Quite refreshing.

The success of Neil Simon movies is dispiriting evidence that most people still watch with their ears. 'Seen one, seen 'em all' quite literally applies to his static exercises in theatrical smart-talk and unfailing wit-under-pressure.
