Audience Member A very laid back, humorous, witty example of Aussie humour. A road trip movie about a tough old bloke and his son, who seeking a closer relationship with his dad by taking the grand road trip they discussed when he was a young lad. Sometimes sensitive and touching, it deals with the relationships between the main characters and the people they meet on the road, but (LOL) humorous too as they journey along! A good night's entertainment. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Basically a 3rd rate tourism Australia ad turned into a movie. Acting was wooden plot nonexistent don't waste your time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Cute little aussie road movie, full of little comedy sketches. The whole thing, the way it was filmed reminded me of Smokey and the Bandit Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Paul Hogan being Australian in a not-very-original road movie. Funny in a veg-out, let's do a 'what's Australia like?' evening, kind of a way. Some good emotions in what purports to be a feelgood movie. This is Australia with no wildlife apart from one frog, and nary an 'Aboriginal' / native Australian in sight. Some nice landscapes and lots of funny scenes. Australia is apparently an adjunct of the Wild West of the USA. A BBC iPlayer random find: it was good enough to be shown in Northern Ireland but not the rest of the UK. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member No laughs here, I'm afraid. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Nice bit of Aussie scenery but the rest of this is slower than slow and also not overly interesting. I think Hogan who is very understated in this was possibly not the best choice Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Evan Williams The Australian It's a superbly relaxed and good-natured film. Rated: 4/5 Sep 6, 2009 Full Review Ruth Hessey MovieTime, ABC Radio National As to the humour, the script by Dean Murphy and Stewart Faichney is alarmingly slow, paunchy, dated, and sexist. Sep 3, 2009 Full Review Sandra Hall Sydney Morning Herald A road movie that offers a series of simple but singular pleasures, most of which stem from the way in which Charlie and Boots begin to relax in one another's company. Rated: 4/5 Sep 3, 2009 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) A tired and uninspired screenplay from the team behind the 2004 hit comedy Strange Bedfellows serves as the basis for a kerplunkingly bland, slightly cloying road movie. Rated: 1.5/5 Jun 11, 2020 Full Review Matthew Pejkovic Matt's Movie Reviews With Dean Murphy offering pedestrian writing and direction, Charlie & Boots falls on the marketing power of its two lead players, neither of whom have anything of substance to offer. Rated: 1.5/5 Mar 7, 2014 Full Review Des Partridge Courier Mail (Australia) Murphy's straight-forward direction and the genuine charisma that's drawn from Hogan and Jacobson's characters, make this film fun.
