Debut writer-director SE DeRose takes both the sexism and racism of the era briskly to task, though the slightly whimsical tone detracts from the seriousness of the issues. Go to Full Review

At any rate, the women who I liked so much ended up better off than they started, and this was a very engaging historic dramedy. Go to Full Review

As long as you're OK with the fact that this film is a bit of an alternate reality, it offers teens an insightful look at how things have changed since the '60s and why it's so important not to regress. Go to Full Review

Thomas 08/22/2021 This is going to be a sleeper. Great thumbnail sketch of the early 1960's and what women and black people had to endure from the majority of white men in America. It was about the Civil Rights Bill in 1964 giving freedom to all See more William 08/20/2021 Really enjoyed a well written script that cuts to the point of the story of including women in the Civil Rights Act. The actors did a great job! See more Michael O 08/19/2021 A great story about how one congressman might have been persuaded by one interesting lady to include women in the equal rights bill. See more Tony R 08/15/2021 Terrific acting, and great story but they glossed over what should have been the climax. See more J L Nov 29 It undermines the compelling story about a critical civil rights measure that has benefited the United States for sixty years and all the trouble to craft a decent script and hire a respectable cast that the film opens with mismatched stock footage of what is obviously an English railroad running on tracks with a type of sleeper not in use until years later and a diesel electric locomotive. Doesn't look or sound like any 1960s American passenger train. See more y y Sep 12 The Congressman who added "sex" to the Civil Rights bill opposed the bill and was trying to make it harder to pass the bill. This film is too much of a fantasy for me.
