Clyde Gilmour Maclean's Magazine A good suspense thriller. Nov 7, 2019 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It tries to pass muster as a Hitchcockian thriller but lacks the Master's storytelling skills. Rated: C+ May 15, 2018 Full Review Read all reviews

Ed . Thriller in the villa. This film served as inspiration for the French play Trap for a Lonely Man (1960) which was then the basis of three TV movies: Honeymoon with a Stranger (1969), One of My Wives is Missing (1976) and Vanishing Act (1986). I've now seen all four films. Each has its own merits and worth watching. You have to roll with things instead of critically inspecting the plot and execution for any faults. In doing so, it'll keep you in suspense while you enjoy the hour and a half. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 08/29/25 Full Review David C This is a tight thriller, beautifully filmed and performed. It may slightly lack the depth of Master Hitchcock but it does share his lack of concern for plausibility. Indeed I have it tied with Les Diaboliques for best faux Alfred. I was enthralled and unsure throughout. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/25 Full Review Steve D A bit contrived at times but it packs one hell of a twist. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review ashley h Chase a Crooked Shadow is a disappointing film. It is about a stranger shows-up at Kimberley Prescott's villa and claims he is her brother who supposedly died the previous year in a car accident. Richard Todd and Anne Baxter give terrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. Michael Anderson did a horrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member good thriller good chem between todd and baxter Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Twisty little thriller with a good performance from Baxter.
