Steve D A bit contrived at times but it packs one hell of a twist. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/02/23 Full Review ashley h Chase a Crooked Shadow is a disappointing film. It is about a stranger shows-up at Kimberley Prescott's villa and claims he is her brother who supposedly died the previous year in a car accident. Richard Todd and Anne Baxter give terrible performances. The screenplay is badly written. Michael Anderson did a horrible job directing this movie. I was not impressed with this motion picture. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member good thriller good chem between todd and baxter Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Twisty little thriller with a good performance from Baxter. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review Audience Member A classic British thrillerthat resembles later Hammer's psychological thriller series (Paranoiac, Taste of Fear, ...) with a fair few twists and turns. Director Michael Anderson directs the film in a relatively straight forward manne and manages to build some good shock jump-shock scenes. Well written and boasting solid production (though probably very little was actually filmed in Spain and the rear projection scenes are noticable) and some good acting all round and starring Richard Todd, Anne Baxter and Herbert Lom. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Intriguing flick is somewhat ruined by an unnecessary prologue, which, despite being flawed does manage to play with our notion of who the "good guy/bad guy" is. Good pace, good acting, yet the direction is limp and too laid back. There is little style or wit on display. Even the editing seems off - too slow in many parts. The twist is a good one, but once its' effect has worn off, I couldn't help but feel I'd been told one very long, albeit clever, joke. It was enjoyable, but, in the end, shallow. What Hitchcock could have done with this premise! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Read all reviews
