Last year's Alappuzha Gymkhana was a window into how sports movies are made in Malayalam. Chatha Pacha is about honouring the wrestling days of yore. It is crazier with a lot of glitz. The wrestling bits in this movie are next level. Even the performances, especially Arjun Ashokan & Roshan Mathew's are noteworthy. Roshan Mathew just gets better with every movie and the intensity he brings to Vetri is great. Ishan Shoukath who plays Little is the glue that binds the group together. Vishak Nair's Cherian is good and he manages to get under your skin. Only two things bothered me: one was the non-wrestling bits. It comes off as very predictable. The other issue was the cameo. Mammootty is miscast and the moment he enters the scene, the focus shifts to him with our primary cast being left hanging.
