Time Out Only in the highly orchestrated, surprisingly gory climax, wherein Chucky's plastic form takes on the sins of the flesh, is there a spark of originality. Feb 9, 2006 Full Review Richard Harrington Washington Post An inevitable sequel that's not as good as its progenitor, but better than most movies with the numbers 2 through 8 in their titles. Jan 1, 2000 Full Review Jeffrey M. Anderson Combustible Celluloid The film is surprisingly well-shot with all kinds of strange angles and unsettling spaces, notably the toy factory where the climactic showdown takes place. Rated: 3/4 Jul 20, 2024 Full Review C.H. Newell Father Son Holy Gore Mancini has big things to say about capitalism aimed at kids, though they don't always come across as well as in other portions of the franchise. Rated: 3/5 May 1, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy In embracing its identity as a tacky horror movie, and totally scrapping the murder mystery angle that made the original so wobbly, it manages to be a darn sight more fun to watch. Rated: 6/10 Jul 9, 2011 Full Review Steve Newton Georgia Straight Too much effort went towards giving Chucky life in this film, while other things like the writing, acting, and direction were left for dead. Luis Otavio F It's pretty good, not better than the original. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Tyler B Taking the capitalist approach was a daring move that paid off for the sequel. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review Rowan C This film was way better than I thought it was going to be. Andy, who is now in foster care gets found once again by Chucky. Two years after the first movie, Chucky is remade and has one sole purpose of getting back to a normal human body again. A nice family takes in Andy because his mother was forced into psychiatric evaluation and this was a huge mistake for this family. Chucky pays a visit to Andy, threatening him and trying to take over his body so many times. The foster family refuses to believe the stories about Chucky, and they end up dead because of they thought there would be no possible way that a doll had come to life. Chucky became more human in this movie, and the producers did not hold back with the amount of blood that Chucky lost. This movie had a good ending with Chucky failing his conversion magic and ending up dead at the hands of Andy and Kyle. Overall, a solid sequel but I do not think that it beat Child's Play in 1988. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 12/02/24 Full Review Anil R If you are a Chucky fan, do not let the negative reviews deter you. I seriously do not know what these people are thinking about, or what their expectations of a Chucky movie is. It's a killer doll, what "more" should it give? This is the best series of the franchise. I think this is where the real Chucky starts to take form, his personality starts to come out even more, and the kills and scares are even better. It also I think where they finally begin expanding his lore and really adding that signature look and feel to the movie that made it really about toys, childhood etc. I highly recommend this for any true Chucky fan-- the best of the series! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/13/24 Full Review Byron H 3/4 Child's Play 2 is a well made film like the original, is it better?.... Almost. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/03/24 Full Review Shane C Don't care what the critics say, this is the best of the OG trio. The kills are bloodier and Andy is an amazing lead. Go see this movie.
