Audience Member This movie is a historical war drama based on real-life events of the Chittagong uprising in the year 1930 by armed Indian independence fighters against the British colonial rule of India. Being a low budget movie the production values are mediocre, but the direction is decent and he gives us a unique historical drama with a right mix of action, romance and patriotism while sticking to the facts and not sensationalizing it for the masses. The casting is among the best Indian cinema has to offer, most of the side actors who were little know at the time are now known for their methodical performance and have had leading roles in their own movies. This is a story which deserves a telling, one of the few armed encounters were the Indians came out on top, if only for few days. What's interesting to know is most of the soldiers were schoolboys as young as fourteen years old, not only that, when they were finally confronted by a large British force of thousands of soldiers, they only lost few revolutionaries against a large number of British losses before making their escape. The story is told from the point of view of Jhunku, a 14-year-old revolutionary, the youngest person to be imprisoned in the dreaded Kala Pani jail. One should watch it for an enjoyable history lesson if nothing else. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
