Heather Hogan Autostraddle A welcome horse girl holigay rom-com that feels like fan fiction in the way all the best Hallmark Christmas movies do. Dec 13, 2021 Full Review David-Elijah Nahmod Bay Area Reporter The film won't appeal to anyone looking for an edgy, groundbreaking film, but if a family film with lesbian leads sounds exciting to you, then Christmas at the Ranch may be what you've been waiting for. Dec 17, 2021 Full Review Ian Thomas Malone ianthomasmalone.com Allen and Righetti are very sweet together, the kind of wholesome romance that many LGBTQ people dream of having for themselves. Dec 2, 2021 Full Review Marisa Carpico The Pop Break However, because Christmas at the Ranch's central romance can't sweep us up in the way it should, it also can't distract us from the film's other weaknesses. Dec 1, 2021 Full Review Michael Talbot-Haynes Film Threat Christmas at the Ranch is a load of fun, a holiday hayride for the heart. Rated: 8/10 Nov 17, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Jen F S Listen, queer representation matters. We need films like this that walk uncharted territories. The problem is not the obvious tight budget, at all, because even though the art and the photography feel amateurish they get the job done. The biggest problem this movie has is the writing. It lacks purpose, structure, and most of all, heart. It feels like fanfiction, but I've read better fics. It doesn't know what kind of movie it wants to be. Is it a romantic comedy? Definitely not, the leads only spend a couple of real sequences together that are not montages with awful music in the background. Is it a Christmas movie? Only if you look at the decorations. It's a shame really, because the cast tries their best with the poor material they're given. All in all, it lacks soul, yes, but as I said, we need this, and hopefully, with time, films better than this one. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Taylor E Not a great movie at all. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/24/23 Full Review Cathleen C I thought this was a great lesbian Christmas movie. I'm not a big fan of Hallmark-style movies or sugary endings, but this one really hit the spot for me. The dialog was witty and natural, the characters relatable, and the actresses well-suited to their roles with nice chemistry. Honestly, the whole thing left me with all the warm and squishy feelings I typically despise. It is a little cliche and certainly no Miracle on 34th Street, but I know any time I need a pick-me-up, I can turn on Christmas at the Ranch and lose myself to laughter and joy. Definitely worth watching! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/29/22 Full Review Audience Member Good idea but the story hadn't the time to develop. Everything happens too fast, sometimes I had the impression that I missed some part and the main character has no charisma. I loved the Righetti´s caracther but she couldn't save the couple.
