See more 07/07/2008 Very Portuguese-centric but cinephiles all over the world still worship Manoel de Oliveira. Not bad but I still prefer No, or the Vain Glory to Command. See more 03/29/2008 After seeing many of Oliveira's films at a retrospective, I consider "Aniki Bobo" (1942), "Voyage to the Beginning of the World," (1997) and this one the best. His other work was tiring and didn't really have much of an effect for me. He is though the best looking 100 year old I've ever seen!! See more 03/27/2008 Amusing to see the movie directed by the oldest (99) active film director in the world. Manoel de Oliveira also plays an important role in the movie. He is old Manuel Luciano da Silva, a medical doctor who tried to prove Columbus was a Portuguese, and de Olivera's wife is the doctor's wife. See more 03/20/2008 I did enjoy this movie. It's just like an old grandpa (and probably a very patriotic Portuguese one!) telling stories as well as his views on some historical incidents.
