Radheyan Simonpillai NOW Toronto Smith gives a stellar performance in the role, building a character whose motivation is a mystery but whose emotions are deeply felt. Too bad the film doesn't really have anywhere to go with such talent. Rated: 2/5 Jul 16, 2014 Full Review Inkoo Kang Los Angeles Times A thoughtful thesis on the melodrama but a letdown in its attempt to serve as an affecting example of that genre. Jul 3, 2014 Full Review Michael Phillips Chicago Tribune The actors make up for the relative thinness of the material. Smith navigates the emotional terrain with great skill. Rated: 2.5/4 Jun 26, 2014 Full Review C.J. Prince Way Too Indie For a film about parental loss and cinema itself, Cinemanovels is too dull to leave any lasting impression. kevin c A young woman who's filmmaker father has passed away, is putting together a memorial film retrospective. While reviewing his work she realizes her life and decision making is beginning to be influenced by her late father's work. Interesting film with a really great performance from lead actress Lauren Lee Smith. Jennifer Beals and Katherine Isabelle co star. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I'm not sure how to classify this one. Hilarious moments. Boring moments. Shocking moments. Sexy moments. Depressing moments. The film seems to be a moquerie of films and cinephiles. The hero girl is like a lazy bum, psychopathic and lucked out by having a revered dad. But she doesn't care for much. It works as a comedy, a bit insane on the edge. Philosophically, the film does not hold water. It is materialism that doesn't care. It is psychopathy imitating passion to soil it. It is the very nature of the english invasion. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/20/23 Full Review Audience Member This had it's moments of genuine entertainment, it just fails to maintain them for long periods of time. Good for background noise. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member I suggest turning on your television in the early afternoon and channel surfing. You're bound to find something equal to - or greater than - Miles' half baked erotica. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
