Tough and unsettling by design, Civil War is a gripping close-up look at the violent uncertainty of life in a nation in crisis.

roy c A beautiful, if terrifying, film about the human cost of war. Expertly crafted photography, and sounds design, puncuated by excellent acting. Some might put off by the lack of exposition, or the non-formulaic approach. But rest assured, this film is not only one of the best released in 2024, but of the 2000's. 91/100 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Alejandro Must see! Eye opening experience Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Rob B This movie should be called “how to be a wartime journalist “. The title is deceiving, this movie basically gave one line to address why their was a civil war and did nothing to flesh that out. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Me It was a bit of a disappointment. The movie is from a journalists point of view, you dont see much of the civil war from somebodys perspective or someones story. You dont even put yourself in their shoes, you dont feel that feeling that makes you think if it was me From the trailer I thought it was a different movie. Its not worth the money I spent to watch it in the movie theater, probably not even on the couch. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Traci G I was looking forward to this given the times we are living in, but man this was awful. Terrible flat acting due to poor dialogue and plot line. Boring sequences of meaningful glances and empty landscapes. No backstory to explain the cause of the civil war. I told myself I'd bolt once my water bottle was empty. The film ended, thankfully, before my last sip. WAIT FOR THIS TO STREAM!! Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) It's very powerful. Apr 24, 2024 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker Clamorously making its claim on viewers’ attention by subject matter alone, rather than by artistry or world view, the film is a kind of advertisement for itself. Apr 23, 2024 Full Review Rex Reed Observer Look at it as a movie for posterity, and it becomes a worthwhile movie to savor, but nothing else—and you’ll survive. Admire Civil War as an amazing film of imagination and cinematic verve but nothing else—and you will, too. Rated: 3.5/4 Apr 22, 2024 Full Review Damien Straker Impulse Gamer There are many positives to draw from Civil War, a topical and highly suspenseful film. Rated: 3/5 Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Michael Calleri Niagara Gazette With about 30 minutes to go, I realized that Garland didn’t have an intelligent resolution on the horizon. The vague “Civil War” simply flops around through White House hallways until its uninteresting ending. The movie's lack of imagination is tedious. Apr 27, 2024 Full Review Mauricio Jarufe Caballero Cinencuentro Humanitarian disaster, far-right fever, crisis of journalism, and the fall of American hyper-imperialism. This may be a necessary blockbuster. [Full review in Spanish] Apr 26, 2024 Full Review Read all reviews
