Audience Member Good solid overview of the making of the first (and definitive, imo) Black Sabbath album. The band members talking about putting the songs together is the best of it. Watching and listening to Toni Iommi play those eternally classic riffs and solo bits is great. Ozzy, Bill and Geezer all give honest, plain spoken break downs of the songs, especially the lyrical content and thier origins and how they basically thrashed out the songs through extensive extended jamming. What's weaker is all the prattle and such by other people trying to make general assessments on Sabbath at the time and the album. There's some real stretches among their comments. The one goob saying five British rock bands built the basis for American music that came after, apparently ignoring or being to myopic to think of American country music, funk, soul/r&b, jazz, rap, reggae, new wave/postrock genres and subgenres that were present then and still are now or would come later. It's a true classic album and is a founding work for a great deal of heavy rock that followed. Glad this one was on the Coda channel. 3.7 stars Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member Classic Albums Black Sabbath Paranoid is a great documentary about the making of the album that set the blueprint for heavy metal music, and ultimately cemented Black Sabbath's reputation as one of the most defining acts in the genre. The 'Classic Albums' series has always enlightened music lovers on the creation of the worlds great albums and this chapter is no exception. Being one of my personal favourite albums, I was captivated by information delivered (although I had read a fair amount of it before). Ozzy as usual was barely intelligible, but we wouldnt have him any other way. A must for Metal/Rock fans. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Read all reviews
