Critics Consensus

Clementine struggles to engage as an erotic thriller, but is often held together by the well-acted friendship at its core.

Peter Bradshaw Guardian Where are we going with all this? Nowhere very satisfying: there is a lot of non-suspense leading to non-thrills and non-revelation of character. Rated: 2/5 Feb 1, 2021 Full Review David Ehrlich indieWire "Clementine" is too prone to navel-gazing to leave a strong impression. Rated: C+ May 11, 2020 Full Review Nell Minow RogerEbert.com At its best [Clementine] is more a mood piece than a narrative, an exploration of the shifting power in relationships. Rated: 3/4 May 8, 2020 Full Review Brian T. Carney Washington Blade A moody mess. May 20, 2022 Full Review Carla Hay Culture Mix By the time secrets are revealed in the movie, the ending of Clementine is so anti-climactic that people won't care much about what happens to the characters after the movie ends. Jul 11, 2020 Full Review Gregg Shapiro Bay Area Reporter Fans of slow-paced tension will probably find something to like about Clementine. Rated: B- May 27, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Joe M Pretty good watch. Takes a minute to get going but it will have you at the edge of your seat for a while. Good find. Great cast. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/24 Full Review Audience Member Meandering, facile and at times cliched, posing as complex, thought-provoking and relatable. The character development is non-existent, and the relationships between them are weak. The key moment in the story feels disjointed as a result. The youthful vulnerability, confusion, and curiosity take on more powerful roles too late to save the story, as only at the end do they bring something to the journey through the boredom and monotony of small town living As a character study of youthful manipulation, deviously provocative behaviour, and curiosity, this works… after a second viewing. As a coming of age flick, it does not. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Read all reviews
