03/27/2021 The historical story is true but the acting and telling of that story is just terrible. Maybe someday someone will tell this story without the soap opera hogwash. It graphically showed some of the brutality I've heard from many years as a child studying Greek language and culture, but featured well acted romance and tension by the main characters, as well as some excellent historic costume and settings/cinematography. On paper this movie sounds great and it could’ve been a great epic unfortunately the movie is just average. And that’s because of the movies budget. The movie has an excellent story but it’s hammered by cheap looking sets, stiff dialogue, some questionable acting, and pacing that could’ve been better. With a bigger budget and a better director I think this movie could’ve been really good.
