Dario V Are you serious? Ive been watching movies 40+ years ... and this film was on TOP3 WORST movies for acting/editing/screenplay/camera... just terrible. Film would have to be studied at academies in order not to make films Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 03/14/24 Full Review A.L.Jude P The hype made in the ratings are utter exaggeration and wonder why by the name of movies like this are made for viewing ? Rated 1 out of 5 stars 11/23/23 Full Review Leah L You will be at the edge of your seat! The cast did an amazing job. This is a must see Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/09/23 Full Review Kenneth M In an age where social media models and 'body goals' standards rule the world, it is hard not to relate to Lisa, the lead character in Clinic and her low self-image. Her body image issues stemming from bullying when she was a child and made worse by her career as a stripper force her to seek a Brazilian butt lift to improve her body image. Against the wishes of her boyfriend and medical professionals, she decides to have the procedure in a dingy house, for half the price, a decision that almost costs her her life. Clinic is a great story of trauma, revenge, love, and body image all rolled into one and I really enjoyed it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Mamoona J Firstly, all the characters were on point. The movie discusses plastic surgery and BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) from opposing perspectives. So you can see both sides and somehow find sympathy for both. I learned about a new concept through the movie that is BDD (Body Dysmorphic Disorder) which I had never heard of before. I also observed a lack of self-love in the story. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Jennifer A Driven by the need to stay competitive at work, a stripper undergoes BBL (Brazilian Butt Lift) procedure despite the health risk it poses on her. When she eventually ends up in a shady cosmetic surgery practice, she must instead fight for her life. Clinic is a 2023 thriller directed by Aleshia Cowser Jackson. It is fast paced, harrowing, and in true Get Out fashion, laced with some really pointed social commentaries. The film offers a searing look at the world of cosmetic surgery, especially the uber controversial BBL. It offers some topical discussion about the pros and cons (largely the latter) of cosmetic procedure, especially the root causes and the social phenomenon around it. In the movie, the film's argument for BBL is illustrated by the main character wanting to boost her self confidence and keep up with the physical demand of her job. This is true in real life, where people who struggle with body image can improve their self esteem by improving their body. It also makes a case for people with deformities, allowing them to regain their dignity. On the other side, the film delves into the dark side of BBL: the health risk, how it exacerbates body dysmorphia disorder – a mental health problem that really could be treated more safely with clinical testing, the high rate of suicidal thoughts following the procedures, not to mention the long-term effect that could only be seen years down the line. The commentaries feel really well researched, with humane discussions about the radical changes it does to people. This aspect of the movie is certainly more intriguing than the psychopathic murder rampage side of the story. Although, that plotline eventually shows its more poignant side, yet another commentary on the danger of cosmetic procedure taken to extreme measure.
