Who K At least this better was then Expendables 4 a Nowhere to Run remake with Scott Adkins standing in for JCVD Rated 3 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review dave j The 7th of 9 films action star Scott Adkins worked with director Isaac Florentine, the opening 5 minutes has Colton saving his niece, Hailey (Madison Lawlor) from drug cartels. Aside from taking on much of the entire gang, he also kills it's leader grabbing the USB/flashdrive that was around his neck. When ex-soldier on AOWL Colton returns Hailey back to his sister, Angela (Caitlin Keats) safely back home. Another problem is brewing which involves a corrupt sheriff (Nick Chinlund) being instructed to find and locate Colton from another cartel. We find out later that the person Colton had killed and took the flashdrive at the opening is his nephew and as right now he is setting his sights on retrieving the flashdrive that may implicate him to other crimes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member You know when Scott Adkins teams with Isaac Florentine that the result will be a fun, watchable film filled with decent action. Without Scott Adkins this would be a lot less appealing and enjoyable; however, it does have Scott so the end result is pretty good. Guy with a past protects family from villainous assassins as the catalyst for an exciting climax. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review corkball The best way to say this is 'arthouse action' - something like that. Adkins appears to be some sort of martial arts guy, so every time he tries to shoot someone, his gun jams, so he has to take out his knife, ninja kick the guy, then stab him in the neck. I guess if you like watching choreographed fight scenes, you might like this film, but in all other aspects, the flick is super cheesy. If you want to see the SAME movie done better, watch 'Rambo Last Blood' - the plot is identical, although points to Close Range - it came first. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Close range is not one of the best Scott Adkins movies out there but it delivers what you expect. Plenty of action, Scott Adkins kicking butt, and a fairly short run time. Most of the characters are all one dimensional the plot is thin as pie and predictable but if you just want to see some mindless action and Scott kicking butt it delivers. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/13/21 Full Review Audience Member The depressingly familiar formula of Scott Adkins first rate action sequences married to a third rate script. Martin Tsai Los Angeles Times The conclusion hatched by Adkins' frequent collaborator, director Isaac Florentine, is as inevitable as the film's basic-cable destiny. Dec 10, 2015 Full Review Nick Schager Village Voice It's as unsubtle as a boot to the head, but its dour-and-campy lo-fi style is far preferable to the spastic flash of its big-budget genre compatriots. Nov 24, 2015 Full Review Dominic Griffin Spectrum Culture Close Range is less a movie and more a feature length demo reel for star Scott Adkins. Rated: 2/5 Jul 17, 2019 Full Review Ed Travis Cinapse Sometimes directors and stars have a magic chemistry that can't be denied; cinematic pairings that seem destined. Now... we can add Isaac Florentine and Scott Adkins to that list. Jan 27, 2019 Full Review John Noonan FILMINK (Australia) Whilst Close Range doesn't reach dizzying heights of B-movie madness, there's still a lot of fun to be had. Mar 10, 2016 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Once Adkins and Florentine get their engines rumbling, "Close Range" manages to deliver some compelling combat sequences, blasting, kicking, and stabbing its way through a southwestern war zone.
