Marjory Adams Boston Globe Cobra Woman is just what the audiences expect it to be -- a glorious color film combining spectacle, a plot faintly similar to the average comic strip, and quantities of hand to hand battles. Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Kate Cameron New York Daily News If you go in the right frame of mind to [Cobra Woman], you might find amusement in the absurdities of the plot and in the antics of Montez, Hall and company. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Ruth Mahaffey Fort Worth Star-Telegram/DFW.com The ensuing incidents, all previously aired in fantastic spectacle films, are not unentertaining if you like your escapist entertainment. Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Jane Corby Brooklyn Daily Eagle It is in an atmosphere, therefore, of uncertainty, though undeniable beauty, that Jon Hall pursues his oft-pursued romance with Maria Montez in Cobra Woman. Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Ethel Hoffman Buffalo News The fiery colors, movements of the exotically-dressed crowds and the sumptuous palace settings add up to an eyeful, but the adults will regard the far-fetched doings indulgently and wish they'd brought along the youngsters. Sep 21, 2022 Full Review Josephine O'Neill Daily Telegraph (Australia) This has the most fantastic story, pictorial beauty, and extravagant costuming in the whole history of those Preposterous Isles, of which Maria Montez is Queen. Audience Member The genre of the island picture has a quality all its own that I typically do not appreciate. But this a fun movie and is good for the camp value. Maria Montez may not have been able to act, but she was good in this. Much better than her male leads and Sabu. Fun for a good laugh at ‘scriptanite' plot (seems this island kills strangers...unless you are laying Italian marble in the palace or bringing the designer duds). Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review martin a A stunningly restored film in full colour.A great camp classic cant recommend this enough. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review bill t Extremely strange B movie about a man who falls in love with a woman.. He and she soon finds out she's a descendent of cobra island... But wait! Her evil twin sister got there first and now she's ruling! It's up to them (and Sabu (and yes, a chimp)) to thwart her! Plenty of ridiculousness going on. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Wonderful, wonderful fun in this camp and creaky melodrama. Maria Montez is glamorous, and Sabu is funny in a gauche kind of way. The score is sumptuous, the dancing ridiculous - Indiana Jones would have been very different without this kind of movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Instantly grating from the moment the first characters you see open their mouths. I dare you to get through the first scene. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Audience Member The most beautifully campy film ever made--Camp par excellence!!
