Richard Whittaker Austin Chronicle Not only is his use of chemistry gruesomely ingenious, but he finds a convincing and tense way to make two doddering coffin dodgers into memorable screen villains. Oct 1, 2019 Full Review Anton Bitel Sight & Sound The ensuing intergenerational clash is a highly volatile mix of The Wages of Fear (1953) and 'torture porn' tropes, with an uncomfortable grounding in political reality. Nov 16, 2011 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews It's a different sort of horror thriller, but not a better one. Rated: C+ Apr 7, 2022 Full Review Ed Travis Hollywood Jesus Look, Cold Sweat makes no sense. But it is successful at creating some tense situations and at making its viewers sweat a little themselves. Apr 3, 2020 Full Review Diego Batlle Otroscines.com Despite their best efforts, there is little room for surprise in the second half of the film. Audience Member Wasn't a fan of this horror film. Didn't do enough to scare nor gross you out, so it was really tame for such a disturbing premise. The acting also left a lot to be desired. There weren't many positives here. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member What the indie horror genre could use more of? Answer: Movies like this one. Not without its faults, COLD SWEAT offers up an explosive(!) viewing experience that does everything right along the way, it just failed to make us care about the characters enough such that high stakes could mean much, much more -- especially during the early and often moments of slow, silent terror, as we listen each drop of sweat hit the potentially life-ending surface for over 90 minutes. Cleverly written and for the most part it's comptently directed. Again, the stakes for our main protagonists are rather low compared to what the antagonists -- who are far more intruiging by the way -- are REALLY trying to achieve. It's well worth the watch for anyone with a penchant for "to the point" horror films. Not over the top with blood and gore, but also not for the sqeamish. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member Save for the beginning, there's not a boring moment in this modern day version of the French The Wages of Fear. Albeit the plot is quite thin, this leaves room for more suspense and plenty of excellently crafted scenes of horror, action and slowmo explosions. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie is bonkers! Clever sometimes, idiotic in others. Entertain none the less. It works If you got time to spare. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Cold sweat is a great original horror movie about two old men the kidnap people and use nitroglycerin to kill their victims. The director uses camera moves in slow motion and the way home someone blows up from having the nitroglycerin on them. B (2011) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member A new twist on the torture porn genre, Cold Sweat is a tense thriller that draws upon the history of violence in Argentina for its inspiration. An intelligent, brutal, and gripping film, Cold Sweat keeps you on the edge of your seat but never engages its source material in the critically compelling fashion that it could have. Still, it is a stylish, twisted, and original film that will keep fans of smart horror films engaged throughout its run time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Read all reviews
