Zaki Hasan San Francisco Chronicle "Collisions" is a timely examination of a relevant subject, and that timeliness makes it worthy of viewing and discussion even when the execution falls shy of the intended mark. Rated: 2.5/4 Nov 8, 2019 Full Review Christy Lemire FilmWeek (KPCC - NPR Los Angeles) I wish it better because it is timely and sadly relevant... [But] I found it really clunky. The performances are all really stiff. Oct 8, 2019 Full Review John DeFore Hollywood Reporter Collisions all but screams "Issue Movie," and is extremely unlikely to reach anyone but the already convinced. Oct 3, 2019 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills On the low-budget and comparatively low-key...modest but topical... Oct 21, 2020 Full Review David Lamble Bay Area Reporter Paints a compelling portrait of two young Americans growing up fast and struggling to survive unreliable adults and politically driven policies that see the children as collateral damage. May 26, 2020 Full Review Alan Ng Film Threat You may or may not like the politics of the film, but you will love the story of this family. Rated: 7/10 Mar 10, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews

Audience Member This is a beautifully made film that lets the audience experience the plight of families affected by deportation. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member The fictionalized journey of two children in search of their undocumented mother, who is being deported back to Mexico, is an amazing poetic rendering of the emotional turmoil associated with the loss of a parent and primal force of reconnecting. The story weaves through the bewildering inhumanity of deportation and the power of love that reveals the surprising good will, lingering in the shadows, making for a very unique and compelling road movie. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Excellent, very thought-provoking work. It is beautifully filmed and wonderfully acted, particularly for a project with such a modest budget. One can sympathize with all of the characters, even as they clash with each other. I particularly appreciated the fact that none of the immigration-related agents are portrayed as malevolent; rather, they are just doing their jobs in a very flawed, overwhelmed system. It is particularly noteworthy that this film was largely written and filmed in 2016, before the current presidential administration. I fear how much worse things must have become for undocumented residents of the U.S. since then. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member A very moving and thought provoking film about the real life circumstances of deportation of parents of American children. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This movie teaches a lot about the steps in the immigration process that become secretive and untoward. Beautiful story line, very sad to watch, and very relevant in our current context in the US. Highly recommend. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Collisions is a movie, not a documentary, but the actors are so natural it makes you feel like it's a documentary. If you'd like a better understanding of what immigrants go through, both documented and undocumented, see this movie. Well written, unpredictable and engaging from beginning to end, you'll come away with a deeper understanding and empathy for today's immigrants. (My grandparents all immigrated from Sweden in the early 1900's.) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Read all reviews
