Audience Member 2003 release - a British noir-like mystery set in the present. Fairly well scripted and composed, and nicely acted - the 6 major players fill their roles as well as could have been done by anyone. Pretty believable tale and the sets and settings and jazzy background are all done well. The story works by showing one cryptic scene after another, the plot being revealed bit by bit. Expect a lot of British style "life philosophising" as asides thruout the movie. This is definitely not an action movie but rather more like an old fashioned book mystery - it frequently is pretty slow. It's hard to write a full review without spoilers but if you like stories about lawyers and crooks and powerful rich guys all trying to figure out one another and outwit one another then you'll probably like this subdued caper.
