Audience Member Adapted from the book, it's fine but there is some boring moments and long dialogues. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Depardieu is excellent (as always) in this intriguing tale of one man's quest to regain what is rightfully his, against the efforts of his manipulative wife, an antagonist who sets a new benchmark for greed and dishonour. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member great script, great direction, great cinematography, great music and above all tremendous acting Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Balzac est mort. Vive Angelo ! Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/22/23 Full Review Audience Member Adaptation de l'oeuvre de Balzac. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member After finding the book by Balzac interesting, I was thoroughly disappointed by the film. First of all, the length was totally unnecessary and dominated by sombre, "artistic" scenes. Ardant and Depardieu were okay, I guess, but the actor playing Derville was annoying and didn't fit the role. I feel this book is in major need of a remake.
