Tic Toc M I thought this movie was hilarious. It's for fans of Kubrick. Most people who are giving this bad reviews - including at least one of the actual "real" reviewers who seemingly has never seen "A Clockwork Orange" and so the reference to it goes sailing over his head! - are giving it bad reviews because I don't think they know much about the guy. The accents thing is part of the actual guy that Malkovich is playing, he's not just doing it to try something avant garde or something. There might be some homophobia in these low ratings as well, on top of the fact that Malkovich doesn't exactly play a "heroic" character. It's not a "great" movie, but I laughed, I stayed engaged, and it's only 85 minutes. Every time he tells someone he's Stanley Kubrick, the look on their faces is priceless. I'll take this any day of the week over a Marvel movie, lol. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/22/23 Full Review Dena J Excellent film, a must see about a scam artitist posing as Stanley Kubrick. John Malkovich is awkwardly funny and captivating as the con artist convincing people from all walks of life that he is the great director. He travels meeting people and flattering them with his presence and promising to make their dreams come true. The soundtrack takes a strong part in this film as well taking music from Kubricks films and using them to enhance moments and forward the plot. John Malkovich gives a stellular performance. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/29/22 Full Review nilufer e If I didn't like John Malkovich I wouldn't bother finishing this boring movie. This was a horrible prototype of a con movie. Even though there wasn't much going on the part that was, was incredibly dull. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member An intrinsically bizaare choice of movie for Malkovich about a man who allegedly pretended to be Stanley Kubrick and reaped the benefits of doing so. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review william s Great performance by Malkovich but little else. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member A dirtball comedy about a lifelong con-artist. Catchy and quotable, and filled with sleazy whimsy. Peter Rainer Christian Science Monitor Malkovich captures not only the nuttiness of Conway, with his smorgasbord of foreign-sounding accents, but also his pathos. Rated: B+ Apr 9, 2007 Full Review Tom Long Detroit News Not only is there nothing there, the nothingness is a complete bore. When a film's highpoint is a soundtrack that relies heavily on other soundtracks, you've got problems. Rated: D Apr 1, 2007 Full Review John Monaghan Detroit Free Press The irony of Color Me Kubrick is that the visual tricks merely serve as a backdrop for Malkovich's inspired high-wire performance. Rated: 3/4 Apr 1, 2007 Full Review Felicia Feaster Creative Loafing Color Me Kubrick is not without its wacky charms principally driven by John Malkovich's contortions as Conway. Feb 3, 2020 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy It's simply not a movie, not as it stands. It's a five-minute demo reel stretched to feature length. Rated: 5/10 Sep 27, 2007 Full Review Walter Chaw Film Freak Central Any picture featuring a sped-up version of the "William Tell Overture" is so drunk on its own whimsy that it most likely sucks with a dedicated vigour.
