A true, but sad story, about a gifted pastor who lost his way. He was mentored by Oral Roberts who considered him like a son But, when Bishop Carlton Pearson slipped from Biblical Christianity to universalism, Roberts would no longer support him. Pearson lost most of his congregation, his church building, his home, but he continued to preach universalism and was eventually kicked out of his pentecostal denomination. He ended up a unitarian, which is where his theology fit best. He died in November, 2023 at age 70

This movie portrays the key times in Carlson Pearson's life. Chiwetel Ejiofor is superb as Bishop Pearson. Although the film seems quite long at times, it is well done, with a convincing cast supporting the main roles. I enjoyed watching it.

Powerful. Whether you agree with Pearson's doctrinal leanings or not, you should be able to emphasize with what he went through. Chiwetel did such an excellent job of portraying Pearson that there were times when I thought Pearson himself was in the movie. P.S. Holding unorthodox beliefs doesn't make you a heretic. Jesus would have been a heretic to the religious leaders of his day,

Superb acting, and a tough topic to traverse, make this very watchable from the start. The apparent ‘crisis of faith' really could have been explored further, but perhaps that would have diverted away from the overall development of the story, as we follow the Bishop and his family
