Audience Member it is a beautiful time piece, full of poetry. Seeing Gainsbourg and Doherty together makes me happy. They both have a down to earth emotional expression which is a pleasant break from unnatural excessive and fake acting. This disillusoned attitude towards life and love fits Doherty like a glove. Relax, it's a charming movie not another expected Hollywood fabrication. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A Sleeper. If you want a real good nap, watch this! Unfortunately I did not sleep through this... It was well acted and interesting. Flawed yes but 0%? Pffff! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member 3 étoiles pour Charlotte et le sens du naturel dans les scènes de débauché de Doherty... mais un peu longuet quand même. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Pete Doherty may be great as a musician and songwriter, but as an actor he proves to be just as abysmal as this unendurable film - a sterile drama that is not only as dull as watching paint dry but also corny, artificial and painfully repetitive. Rated: 1/5 Dec 6, 2012 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Sylvie Verheyde's Confessions of a Child of the Century will forever carry a certain curiosity with it thanks to its headlining star, but ultimately his performance is the detrimental stone which could plunge this adaptation into eventual obscurity. Rated: 2/5 Oct 8, 2020 Full Review John Bleasdale CineVue The film remains visually competent, and Verheyde is a proven and talented director, yet the hand-held camerawork soon gets tiresome and the feel for the period is notably off. Rated: 1/5 Feb 6, 2019 Full Review Philip Martin Arkansas Democrat-Gazette It all adds up to a curiosity, which isn't likely to make much of an impact with an incurious public.
