01/18/2009 Amazing tale of the lengths one will go to to get a fix. See more 08/07/2008 I thought the movie was not as good as the book. I expected more although I liked the Cape Town scenes alot. The woman does smoke way too much. But it was great to see Tauriq Jenkins (even though he does not speak in the movie) See more 07/13/2008 I can honestly say this movie was not what I expected, compared to the book. This woman smokes a lot, and nogal while wearing a parda. If I was a Muslim, I'd be upset at the way they depict Muslim woman, customs, like washing the dead, and praying. Of course the casino thing just made matters worse. I'm not surprised that it played at Cinema Nouvea, because of it's arty conotations. See more 06/23/2008 Fantastic movie and author. It has a universal theme about addiction and a mother's love for her child and the grief she has when she looses that child plus how we all can go astray from our morals or religion.
