      Critics Consensus

This improvised mockumentary has its funny and even sweet moments, but it's not as witty or sharp as Christopher Guest's offerings.

Audience Member Appalling screenplay, very few laughs. Complete disappointment given the fairly well known cast. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member It's a shame Olivia Coleman and Robert Webb have such a horrible memory of this film and how they were treated as it ruins my opinion that this is a pretty good film. I especially like Martin Freeman and Jessica Hynes. Very sweet couple and good improvising! Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/15/23 Full Review Audience Member The final act with the weddings themselves is the definite highlight - they were all great! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Hilarious! Yet it does make me think I'm glad Allison and I didn't do the boring same old same old. Ours will be, in the words of Moulin Rouge, "Spectacular! Spectacular!" Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A mostly unfunny mess of a film. You will scratch your head wondering who thought this was funny and wait to laugh. And never will. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a lovely Britcom/mockumentary with heart and chaotic tones in the best tradition of Ealing. Marrit Ingman Austin Chronicle Even if it's not quite an affair to remember all year, this BBC Films mockumentary about three wacky weddings is pleasant and enjoyably diverting... Rated: 3/5 Sep 30, 2006 Full Review Tasha Robinson AV Club It's inspired, glorious chaos. Rated: B+ Sep 23, 2006 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star What works for Christopher Guest's dedicated comedy troupe (and it doesn't always work) isn't so easy to imitate, especially with actors lacking in basic improv skills. Rated: 2.5/4 Sep 22, 2006 Full Review Kevin Carr 7M Pictures While the situations are pretty funny and the actors are committed, they're not ripe with hilarity. Rated: 2.5/5 Mar 22, 2007 Full Review Kevin Lally Film Journal International A textbook example of what happens When Improv Falls Flat. Feb 22, 2007 Full Review Bob Strauss Los Angeles Daily News ... Confetti comes off more like a reality TV show, in which the participants just don't express their obsessive cluelessness as exquisitely as sharp writers can through trained actors.
