Justin Lowe The Hollywood Reporter Essentially tacking on a drawn-out fourth act after the 90-minute point, the film feels needlessly overblown by the time it hits the two-hour mark. Jan 27, 2017 Full Review Panos Kotzathanasis Asian Movie Pulse "Confidential Assignment" may not be particularly original, but is an impressive, funny, and very stylish action comedy that is bound to entertain its audience, particularly the ones who enjoy Hollywood blockbusters. Dec 25, 2019 Full Review Edmund Lee South China Morning Post Its narrative makes little sense, but the film is so entertaining audiences will overlook its ludicrous plotting and identify with the protagonists. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 1, 2017 Full Review David Noh Film Journal International This adrenaline-filled cop caper, featuring an unlikely Mutt-and-Jeff pair from two Koreas, delivers solid entertainment and lovable characters. Mordren S 1/10 Don't waste your time Worst TV show Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 07/10/23 Full Review william d The story is pretty formulaic: taciturn, humorless super cop partners with loquacious, good natured doofus cop to catch a killer loose in the city and much violence ensues. However, the movie is rather well done, Kim Joo-hyuk is an excellent villain, and there are even a few laughs. Despite some preposterous moments here and there it's worth a watch. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Federico So much fun. I was afraid they were going for a western feel to this film, but it stays true to K cinema and the unique cultural traits only found there. Loved every minute of this. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/10/22 Full Review Late R It's feels a bit dragged out and doesn't do much to differentiate itself from other buddy-cop genre films – the action is pretty standard stuff and the plot is a little bit ridiculous --but that doesn't stop it from being fun, thanks in large part to getting the balance between comedy and action right, as well as the chemistry and dialogue between the two completely opposite, but likeable lead characters. In the end, it's just well-made, satisfying popcorn entertainment, and that's good enough for me. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/22 Full Review Audience Member Very good action and extremely good plot.
