While a return to action is appreciated, it should not have come at the price it did. There are plot holes big enough to march and army of apes through, and that's despite some glaringly obvious exposition scattered throughout. The plot is utterly unbelievable, not helped by how some developments are not explained at all. The saving grace of the movie, though, is the return to the excitement of the earlier films.

This movie could’ve been a lot better, the exciting ending to the previous movie wasn’t justified in this movie as much or at all. I still think this movie isn’t bad, but it had a lot more potential than what it was given.
