Ty N Despite a crudely constructed screenplay that overreaches, the lead acting performances are good enough, and the story plays out to a logical ending. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Good movie with great world building and characters. The ending was gruesome but very sudden, which made it a little unsatisfying. I liked the gritty realism present throughout the film, though, and there were some very powerful scenes. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member A very authentic and interesting movie that takes us into the world of a group of teenagers. The protagonist being gay was not the main focus of the movie, but it was almost a random fact at times, leaving me with questions. I would have appreciated some more depth into the contextual situation of the protagonist that influences his actions. Still, it intrigues me to find answers! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member CONSEQUENCES (2018, Amazon Prime) is a really fine, totally bleak drama about an unmanageable teenager who falls in with the worst crowd at a Slovenian youth detention centre. It premiered at TIFF and went on to win Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, the Audience Award and the Film Critics' Jury Award at the Slovenian Film Festival. The actual violence is tame, there are no murders, and the main physical attack happens off-screen. But watching it is emotionally brutal and even though our anti-hero survives, the film's ending leaves you gutted. My taste is extremely wide-ranging and while I sincerely recommend this for anyone who appreciates a wrenching slice-of-life, don't go looking for redemption. (It's as disturbing as the wonderful RATCATCHER (1999). Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow, interesting movie, very well done. The acting and writing was very good, although the subject matter wasn't something I'd normally be interested in watching. The movie seemed very real to me, and I'd recommend it to any adult. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member A true life type of film of what goes on behind closed doors and/or behind the scenes. People think they know but they have no idea. Must watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Jude Dry indieWire At a tight 90 minutes, Stante, who wrote the script as well, keeps the narrative as spare as possible without sacrificing texture. Rated: B+ Aug 5, 2019 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times For all its loaded potential to evolve into a gripping look at life in a correctional facility plus an atypical spin on gay longing, the film squanders much of its running time with thin, repetitive scenes of young men behaving badly. Aug 2, 2019 Full Review Boyd van Hoeij Hollywood Reporter Sharp performances and direction help make up for a spotty screenplay. Oct 8, 2018 Full Review Josh Parham Next Best Picture The grounded nature of the film helps to establish the connections between the characters. Rated: 6/10 Jun 4, 2022 Full Review Ben Turner The Pink Lens See-sawing between bubbling anger and brewing vulnerability this an outstanding piece of filmmaking. Rated: 5/5 Sep 1, 2021 Full Review Vladan Petkovic Cineuropa What really lifts it up are the performances by the young actors. Sep 18, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
