Frank Scheck Hollywood Reporter Longtime fans will want to avoid Contract to Kill and instead dig out their old DVD copies of Under Siege and Above the Law. Dec 15, 2016 Full Review Odie Henderson RogerEbert.com It's clear Seagal is no longer limber enough to whip all the ass that's flung at him. Rated: 1/4 Dec 9, 2016 Full Review Kimber Myers Los Angeles Times The script from writer-director Keoni Waxman ... confuses a stream of expletives for wit. There's little help from Seagal, who delivers lines like, "I'm interested. Tell me more," while sounding completely bored. We know the feeling. Dec 8, 2016 Full Review Read all reviews

William D One of the worst movies I have ever seen and has ever been made. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 03/12/23 Full Review Maven R As a movie critic with a vast experience of movie watching and critiques, it is with a heavy heart that I must say that Contract to Kill is a complete disappointment. The film's premise is promising, but the execution leaves much to be desired. The script from writer-director Keoni Waxman is riddled with cliches and fails to provide any semblance of wit or depth. The dialogue is wooden and the pacing is sluggish. The performances from the lead actors, Steven Seagal and Russell Wong, are underwhelming at best. Seagal, in particular, seems to be going through the motions, delivering lines with a bored expression and a complete lack of energy. The action scenes, which are the primary draw of any Seagal film, are also a letdown. The choreography is uninspired and the special effects are lackluster. Seagal doesn't even look good when he breaks arms or chucks heavies down flights of stairs. It's clear that he is no longer limber enough to whip all the ass that's flung at him. Overall, Contract to Kill is a film that is best avoided. Longtime fans of Seagal will want to dig out their old DVD copies of Under Siege and Above the Law instead. This film is a far cry from the action-packed thrillers that Seagal was known for in his prime. It's a shame that such a talented actor has been reduced to starring in such subpar productions. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review lars p Why the low scores? Let's face facts: Steven is the BEST ACTOR of ALL TIME! And he knows boxing, aikido, kung fu, karate and a number of other dangerous words! PS: Review may contain traces of irony! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Contract to kill is your typical low budget Seagal film. At least the best I can say is Seagal was in the entire film instead of giving us a 10 minute cameo like he’s been doing lately. But the film is pretty much what you expect. One dimensional characters, poor action scenes, bad acting, and a cheesy story. Seagal is just too old to be doing films like this. He needs to pass the torch. Scott Adkins and Frank Grillo are the next low budget action stars. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/20/21 Full Review Audience Member Horrible, a waste of time even for free, much better action movies to watch. Seagall has become a bad joke. He could never act but now he is aging and gaining weight and still a terrible actor. Movie makers should use this money to try out new actors.
