Liam Lacey Globe and Mail A well-crafted, deliberately uncomfortable first feature from Canadian-born writer-director Mark Raso. Rated: 3/4 Dec 5, 2014 Full Review Peter Howell Toronto Star Raso and his actors sensitively handle a topic that could be toxic in the wrong hands; they're all worth watching now and in the future. Rated: 3/4 Dec 4, 2014 Full Review Sheila O'Malley RogerEbert.com The tension between the expectations that arise due to the familiar genre and what is actually happening onscreen makes "Copenhagen" special, and a bit strange. Audience Member Spoilers: Ugly American, one-night stands. Focus on now, not past generations better left unfound, maybe even Nazis. Young teen raring to prove she's grown, no father, her Mom's bad boyfriend. Cross cultural. We need help. Too much free time, get a job already, and grow up while you're at it, buddy. Frederikke, her fresh open face, her authenticity, her somehow wise ways, at least sometimes. What does she want with this schlub, she likes an older man, she has a school assignment, who's using whom? So many themes, in a little indy. But sometimes a mishmash works just fine. Her voice, her attraction, quintessential woman, and beauty, like the ancient statue that looks like her face. Finally he grows up, treats her too well to use her, says he loves her because he does. Lets sleeping dog Grandpa Nazi lie after saying hello/goodbye. Nice to see Denmark. Love the creativity. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member I enjoy a good book about travel once in a while, or a film. I have traveled around Europe several times, so a movie about Copenhagen sounded interesting to me. There wasn't a lot of interesting scenery in the film for a story set in Europe, but the relationship that develops between the traveler and the local girl caught my interest. I completely bought the slowly developing attraction, and I could easily imagine the heartbreak they felt when they finally concluded that they could never be together. It's not a memorable film or any sort of artistic achievement, but there are worse ways to spend 90 minutes. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member a 28 year old bro's journey from present to past and puerile to empathetic- phenomenal soundtrack. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member This is one of the best films I have seen. Although the protagonist is extremely unlikable and the age gap between him and Effy is quite uncomfortable, it is enjoyable to watch the character development of William - as he builds respect and love for Effy, which changes him for the better. The cinematography is also good, along with excellent acting. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Audience Member Way too much swearing for me even in the beginning of the movie and it didn't take me long to turn it off. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member Lovely, tasteful little film. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
