Critics Consensus

This uninspiring cop thriller doesn't measure up to Chow Yun-Fat's Hong Kong work.

Laurie S It's vely sirry. There's too many flaws to keep me watching longer than 15 minutes. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 11/29/23 Full Review Steve D Unconvincing and unexciting. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review jjjjjj j This movie starts off poorly but gets better over time. There is an interesting idea at the heart of this of which value/relationship is most important to the characters. The film definitely has some... racist parts, and some comments that are just not okay by today's standards. This movie is not completely awful though. I would redirect people away from this movie as there are so many better action, gangster, and just in general other movies to see that choosing this one will likely be a waste of time. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Carbon copy of Fatt's Hong Kong specialties to NY China town, really hoping for some fresh ingredient. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member Great movie for the ones who have good taste in movies! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member The Corruptor is what happens when a Hollywood studio tries to make a Hong Kong crime film. Chow Yun-Fat is great, but is given better material in those previous films. Mark Wahlberg, plays, as usual, Mark Wahlberg. Their chemistry is forced, as are many of the plot twists. I'm also tired of the racist old man never getting called out. It's ok, but you'd be better off watching the real deals like A Better Tomorrow.
