In 1936, boxing legend Joe Louis (Bernie Casey) receives his first professional loss, at the hands of Max Schmeling (Stephen Macht). Only two years after that, tensions between the United States and Germany have reached a boiling point, and Louis's rematch with the German Schmeling is no longer a mere personal rivalry. Instead, the fight between the two boxers has come to symbolize nothing less than the battle between the U.S. and the Nazi Party.
