COUP DE CHANCE is about the important role chance and luck play in our lives. Fanny (Lou de Laâge) and Jean (Melvil Poupaud) look like the ideal married couple -- they're both professionally accomplished, they live in a gorgeous apartment in an exclusive neighborhood of Paris, and they seem to be in love just as much as they were when they first met. But when Fanny accidentally bumps into Alain (Niels Schneider), a former high school classmate, she's swept off her feet. They soon see each other again and get closer and closer....

The film’s closing is abrupt and maybe too tidy, but “Coup de Chance” is still a clever little thriller. It displays an admirable economy of storytelling, and its jazz-heavy soundtrack helps maintain a jaunty mood.

Coup de Chance is a simplistic sigh of a film, overwrought and underthought but still professionally executed with a workmanlike if uninspired mise-en-scene and obligingly glowing cinematography thanks to stalwart golden-hour fetishist Vittorio Storaro.

I wanted to like this movie but hardy any Paris scenery, all subtitles, no real development of feeling for the affair to get together, not enough character development so you cared for any of them either way. Unfortunately just passed the time lots of streaming shows are tons better then this trip to the movie theater.
