The Tallahassee Unified Family Court (Florida) specialises in judicial cases involving minors. It is the only court in the United States that deals with matters relating to children and parents. The families are summoned to this court when accused of abuse, abandon or negligence in regard to the minors. The objective of this court according to the Law is to reunite families as quickly and safely as possible. The movie takes its inspiration from the words of James Baldwin: “If one really wants to know how justice is administered in a country, one goes to the unprotected and listens to their testimony”.

Fionnuala Halligan Screen International Plunging the viewer straight into Tallahassee's family court, this questioning, challenging film will travel to wherever fine and nuanced cinema is celebrated. Sep 23, 2020 Full Review Carson Timar Clapper For what seems to be a naturally compelling and even devastating documentary feature, it feels sadly instantly forgettable and really does feel like a disappointing final product for the potential the project carried. Feb 22, 2022 Full Review Piers Marchant Arkansas Democrat-Gazette The tumult of family court is well represented in Antonio Mendez Esparza's doc. Jul 9, 2021 Full Review Christopher Llewellyn Reed Film Festival Today By the end, though we have often been sad, we should also feel some satisfaction that the system can work. It's not very pretty, but it's still a beautiful thing. Rated: 4/4 Jul 5, 2021 Full Review Mitch Ryals Washington City Paper Like the real Courtroom 3H, the film has no real beginning or end. It simply offers a look into a heartbreaking world where some families are ripped apart and others are stitched together. Jun 29, 2021 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film This is emotion in the raw, not just from those faced with the possibility of seeing someone else take on responsibility for their kids, but also from the advocates representing them who are being put through the emotional wringer as well.
