Audience Member Despite my love for silent and Pre-Code movies, such as this, Cracked Nuts seems more like a high school film project. My 11 year old can draft a deeper plot and I am reminded of her elementary school film projects that are comparable in comparison. Robert Woolsey is not funny and made a poor choice for a career. Every time he spoke in this film, I wondered "who is this pathetic, annoying little man?" His cigar schtick does not suit his diminutive frame, but may be notable for inspiring other comedians such as Groucho Marx and George Burns as a signature device. I am not at all interested in searching out any more of the 21 Woolsey and Wheeler films, In fact, this is a good reminder of the quality of the era's competing comedy acts and how truly outstanding Chaplin, Keaton and Lloyd were in this genre.
