David Harvey (Mark Lambert) is arrested for murdering a prostitute, but his guilt is called into question when two more are killed in the same fashion while he's incarcerated. When hard-drinking criminal psychologist Eddie "Fitz" Fitzgerald (Robbie Coltrane) is brought in to consult, he suspects David's wife, Maggie (Bríd Brennan), is behind the additional deaths. Fellow officer Jimmy Beck (Lorcan Cranitch), tormented by guilt over a rape he committed, insists that David is the sole murderer.
