Archika Khurana The Times of India Ultimately, Shin-chan: The Spicy Kasukabe Dancers is far from perfect — too slight for a feature film, too reliant on stereotypes — but it’s heartfelt, entertaining, and unexpectedly meaningful. Rated: 3/5 Sep 26, 2025 Full Review Read all reviews

Shaurya S The film works on some levels, doesn't on many others. The stereotypical presentation of India, however, is not among the biggest concerns, because they didn't do that too much, rather they tried their best to keep the world of India upto the mark in terms of accuracy but when it comes to the characters themselves, there's nothing Indian about them. The story is unique but the build up towards the climax and the climax itself could have been more challenging rather than so one-sided for the main characters. Given all the build-up towards what happens when both the papers are inserted in the nose, the final challenge didn't feel as justified as hyped. Jokes were good, though, all of them. Songs were somewhat unnecessary in some areas and became quite non-immersive due to bad timing. But the humour was good, I wouldn't challenge that. It's the climax that needed more conditioning, some of the heroic dialogues that could have been a little more swagster (especially those from Bo-Chan) and the character development of Kazama and Nene (which were near-zero for some reason). Masao and Shinchan were developed very well though. And many cultural references were added, it's weird how even the Shinchan developers have mastered fan-service. Theatre experience was top-notch, everyone was singing the theme song when it was played. Really tells you what Shinchan means to Indians. But yeah, presentation of Indians and climax could have been worked on a little more, and I would have given this 4 stars. Go watch it because watching a Shinchan film in the theatres is a strong gimmick in itself, and this film does many things right. I'm not a huge fan of the somewhat on-the-nose social messages, but the film is simplistic by design, and such elements are actually worthwhile in the given context.
