Anton Bitel Little White Lies This is headily sumptuous, seductive filmmaking, beautiful and grotesque, with the best-realised ghosts since del Toro’s own The Devil’s Backbone (2001). May 28, 2024 Full Review Kristen Yoonsoo Kim Complex What [Guillermo] del Toro had in mind when shooting Crimson Peak was probably a stylish gothic period piece in the same acclaimed lane as Pan's Labyrinth. Unfortunately, Crimson Peak fails to work on that level. Rated: 3/5 Feb 24, 2017 Full Review Max Weiss Baltimore Magazine Not only did I love every silly, gothic, gorgeous minute of Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak, I'm actually suspicious of those who didn't. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 12, 2016 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand Gothic romance with notes of horror, bathed in the unreal and magical colors of a baroque Italian horror and brought to life by Guillermo Del Toro’s beating heart of compassion in the face of evil. Nov 4, 2023 Full Review Emilie Black JoBlo's Movie Network This is a goth horror movie that is reminiscent of Hammer and other old timey studios, it’s goth horror that knows how to build a few scares, but mainly how to build attachments to the characters to make you feel their plight. Rated: 4.5/5 Nov 2, 2023 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast Crimson Peak doesn't entirely land its horror or romance elements, but the costume and production design, plus Jessica Chastain's villainous turn, are utterly sumptuous. genizes l Best movie Ever ,mia incridible Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/17/24 Full Review Geovanny L É meu fiñme favorito do del toro Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/16/24 Full Review Mx S My favourite movie of all time! I'd followed production of this movie since the beginning and was a bit shocked when the final film did not represent the marketing AT ALL. But I loved it for what it is very quickly. It's NOT a horror or haunted house movie in the traditional sense. What Guillermo Del Toro has crafted is a BEAUTIFUL, engaging, atmospheric classic gothic horror ala Victorian novels and penny dreadfuls. It's compelling and gorgeous while also being repulsive and horrifying. Every single shot, set dressing, costume, acting choice draws you in and tells its own unique story while adding to the overall narrative. 10/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/25/24 Full Review Patrick F A fantasy style horror film by Guillermo del Toro. With a great cast including Jessica Chastain and Tom Hiddleston. A vulnerable female leaves her home town to move to a gothic mansion with a dark past. She is in love with the owner(Tom Hiddleston). Slowly the female lead discovers what is truly going on and the film ends with a thrilling finale. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/26/24 Full Review Korra N A masterpiece of Gothic atmosphere, Crimson Peak is as haunting as it is romantic. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/27/24 Full Review David R Highly underrated movie. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews
