Bob Thomas Associated Press Criss Cross is cops and robbers stuff with a better than average budget of excitement. Steve D Hard to care about any of it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Bill T Really fun noir that has Burt Lancaster as a dumb lunk (Note: He plays these extraoridinarily well) that returns to town and again, gets mixed up into the wrong sort of crowd. They plan a heist from an armoured vehicle, which... NOONE HAS EVER DONE, IT'S TOO RISKY. Lots of great usage of flashback, narration, and the noir tropes we've all come to know and love. This was a lovely relief from many days of blah movie watching. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/25/23 Full Review Georgan G A classic film noir. The 3 main characters are played brilliantly and the plot keeps you guessing until the end. Great atmosphere. This is an old film that is worth watching. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/13/23 Full Review paul d Robert Siodomak's Criss Cross is a great movie. True to the films of its day, and especially to the best noirs of that era, this is a taut and compact story. It's got several lifetimes of emotion and back-story that fuels Burt Lancaster's obsession with Yvonne De Carlo. Dan Duryea is an expert and creepy villain, as usual, and the movie is full of wonderful character actors. The sights and sounds of LA are another fine element to the story, adding texture and realism to the steamy and intense scenes. There is a great score and excellent cinematography, with the aerial scenes and occasional angled camera work as highlights. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review william d Excellent noir from the 40s. If you're a fan of the genre I'm confident you will like it too. He's not credited, but I swear that's Tony Curtis dancing with Yvonne DeCarlo in the bar. Lilly Munster was quite a good looking lady in her day. Not a very good actress though. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review joe m Excellent film noir about a guy, Thompson (Lancaster), who comes back to LA allegedly to see his mother, but really just can't get his ex-wife Anna (De Carlo), out of his system. Well, the two of them start up and then are on again, off again until she ups and leaves him for a two-bit gangster (Duryea). And then it all just goes not quite as everyone planned from there. Really well acted, great plot with a suspenseful build-up and all of it set in seedy-ish 1940's LA. I would definitely rank it at one of classics of film noir.
