Rafe Covington (Tom Selleck), a hardened drifter, makes a promise to a dying friend to care for his Wyoming ranch and his wife, Anne (Virginia Madsen). Covington travels to Wyoming with his friends, Rock Mullaney (David O'Hara) and J.T. Langston (Christian Kane), where he tells Anne of her husband's death. They begin rehabilitating the ranch, but after a fatal gunfight, Covington and his men are given an ultimatum: leave town in three days or suffer the consequences.

If you like western movies, you will love Crossfire Trails. Selleck and Brimley are wonderful and have tremendous chemistry. The musical score and scenery add to this movie's production value. I would put this movie up there with John Wayne's Big Jake. For me, that says a lot.

This is one of my favorite western movies. As a rancher I watch a lot of westerns. The critics usually seem to get it really wrong. This is certainly the case with Crossfire Trail. Based on an excellent book, superbly filmed, movie was done in the Canadian Rockies as costs to do a movie in Wyoming area far higher. If you know Wyoming country and Canadian country scenes, you know it is Canada. Do not miss watching this movie!
