Reviews 84% Fewer than 50 Ratings Audience Score Inspired by actual events. The story of 16-year-old Kayla Adams (Kelcey Mawema) whose mother, Karen (Cynthia Bailey) is advised by the school's counselor to send Kayla to get treatment at a youth residential treatment center after she gets expelled from school. Kayla arrives at the Utah facility on the same day as her roommate Amanda (Morgan Taylor Campbell), a treatment program veteran who knows exactly what the girls were in for. Led by headmistress Miss Connie (Camryn Manheim), the staff uses draconian methods including force-feeding medications, arbitrary punishments, solitary confinement, verbal and physical abuse to keep the students in line. After being pushed to their limits and stripped of their lifelines, including any ability to freely communicate with the outside world, the two young women must band together to survive and fight to expose the abuse before it's too late. Jordan M I thought it was a great movie! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/24 Full Review Laurie S Kayla didn't have the best starts in life. Dyslexia was known prominantly in the 60s and her's was missed by her retarded parents. The father was the biggest problem by being totally unsupportive and ignorant to her problems. However she sucessfully fought through this eventually and grew as a person. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/11/23 Full Review N P This movie is fabulous. It was difficult to call it that considering the content is hard to watch, however I doubt anyone would regret watching it. It is underrated! No child should ever have to experience those things, I hope this movie goes a long way to helping raise awareness. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 06/23/23 Full Review Luann Great acting. Two girls develop a close relationship in a reform school/mental hospital. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/05/23 Full Review Rutger D Given the studio, the production limits, and the budget, this movie really did exceed my expectations in explaining the untold stories of people like myself that have gone through abusive "treatment" facilities. The story really impacted me personally and I will be recommending this movie to anyone who wants to learn about the stories of people like me that have experienced similar unfortunate events. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/19/22 Full Review Audience Member A very eye opening look at what happens within troubled teen facilities. Intense, but also toned down just enough to be allowed to play it on TV. While it's quite difficult to watch due to the darkness of the content, I also believe it's important to watch.
