Ken B Considering the movie is called Cruel Peter, we see very little of him. Instead we just get a story of witches and people being possessed. The potential was there, but I think the target was missed. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/11/24 Full Review Audience Member It seemed like the movie was gonna be based on horror clichés but it does have its original moments. Unfortunately the whole film is destroyed by the directors choice to use a dark filter throughout the movie. Although it gives it character and creates a scary atmosphere from a point on you can literally see nothing but total blackness in the screen! You get bored because you take guesses of what had just happened, the scaryness flies away and is replaced by laughter and frustration. I give it 2 stars because the story is fine, it is based on good ideas, it stars good actors and generally it could be a fun watch if someone just re-edited the whole film and stripped it from its blackness. In that case it would take 3,5 stars. Really hard to watch now.... Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Spellbindingly stupid. As a Sicilian this movie confused me. What accents are these? This movie is a mishmosh of cringey stereotypes, falling back on very bad special effects and extreme excess of jumpscares to remind you this is supposed to be in the horror genre. About 1 hr into it, they stopped trying all together and bring out Strega Nona and tons of screaming and crying ensues. I feel bad for the people with this in their portfolio. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Landon J Passes the time but not as good as I thought it would have been. Kind of jumps around quickly and doesn't establish much of any of the character's personality or even close the story out well. The writers even inserted an awkward love connection between the moody English man and the Italian lady that feels like it shouldn't be there. Left me shaking my head, why the writers would add this , that the woman would so desperately act like she cared with that farfetched dialogue. The filming is good the plot is plain old mediocre. I thought it would have been more entertaining. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 08/18/20 Full Review Audience Member Take a concept with potential - spirit of an angry cruel boy who was murdered coming back for revenge - then do everything wrong from that point on. The script is awful. It doesn't stick to single point long enough, and is all over the place. The acting is pretty bad, although part of it is honestly how bad the characters/script are written. Completely unbelievable "love connection" between the main character/her dad depending on who the star really is and the Italian girl. They have almost no interaction, no interest shown by the girl, but conversations seem to imply they're supposed to like each other. By the end of it, even the story doesn't make sense. Beyond that...the film itself is very dark. I don't mean dark/evil/depraved. I mean the image itself is just way too dark. I tried viewing it on high end 4K HDR LCDs and OLED displays. It's just dark and hard to see unless you over-correct for it artificially by putting brightness/contrast up a lot, which lets you see more, but also destroys film quality. So whoever did the grading shouldn't be allowed to touch any other films. Honestly, it's more of a movie to have playing in the background while you're on your phone. You won't get anything substantive out of watching it, and it is oh so far away from being even remotely enjoyable. It's a movie that just "is." And that's the most you can say about it. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member Terrible movie! A low class, wannabe Del Toro horror flick. Badly written, poorly acted, predictable, and brings nothing new or exciting. Run of the mill possession story that aspires to be a classic, but falls short on virtually every level. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
